The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the tragic death of one of its staff members, Emad Shehab, in an airstrike in Syria on Tuesday. Shehab, an engineer based in Deir-ez-Zor, lost his life when his building was struck during a series of airstrikes in the area. He served as WHO’s focal point for water, sanitation, and hygiene in the city.
WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus expressed his condolences, stating that Shehab’s untimely death serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing violence and suffering faced by the people of Syria. Shehab’s contributions will be deeply missed, added Ghebreyesus.
