On Monday, Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, revealed the recruitment of Sam Altman and his team from OpenAI, just days after the co-founder of the ChatGPT venture was dismissed. Altman, known for the launch of the AI chatbot last year, affirmed on X (formerly Twitter), “The mission continues.” Nadella, also on X, stated that Altman would be spearheading a new advanced AI research team at Microsoft, joined by OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and their team members.
Altman was dismissed from OpenAI’s board on Friday, leading to notable departures from the company and reportedly triggering efforts by major investors to reinstate him.
