“IRAN MADE A BIG MISTAKE AND WILL PAY” – ISRAEL PM

In a shocking turn of events, Iran launched a massive ballistic missile attack on Israel yesterday, October 1, 2024, targeting several military and intelligence centers, including the Nevatim Airbase, Hatzerim Airbase, and Tel Nof Airbase. The attack, which involved approximately 180 ballistic missiles, including the domestically produced hypersonic medium-range “Fattah-2” ballistic missile, was reportedly in response to Israel’s killing of senior Axis of Resistance leaders, including Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that 90% of the missiles hit their intended targets, although the Israeli military reported that majority of the missiles were intercepted. The attack resulted in the death of one Palestinian near Jericho in the West Bank and lightly injured two Israelis in Tel Aviv.

Israel has vowed to retaliate against Iran for the attack, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating that Iran “made a big mistake and will pay”. The Israeli military has begun a ground operation in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and positions.

The conflict has sparked concerns of escalation in the region, with the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, describing the Iranian attack as “defeated and ineffective”. The US has also been targeted, with likely Iranian-backed Iraqi militias conducting a rocket attack on a US diplomatic facility near Baghdad International Airport.
