Bomb Blast Kills Seven Soldiers in Northwestern Pakistan

A bomb blast targeting a military truck resulted in the death of seven soldiers in northwestern Pakistan along the border with Afghanistan, the army reported.

The incident occurred in the Lakki Marwat district, situated on the periphery of a lawless tribal region that spans both sides of the border. An improvised explosive device detonated near the military vehicle, claiming the lives of seven soldiers, including an officer, according to a statement issued by the army.

“The perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice,” the statement asserted.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the tribal region has long been a sanctuary for Islamist militants who operate on both sides of the border.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella group comprising Islamist and sectarian militant factions, has been engaged in a prolonged conflict against the state, seeking to overthrow the government and establish an Islamic state governed by its rigid interpretation of Islam.
