June 10, 2024: Elon Musk announced on Monday that he would prohibit the use of Apple devices at his companies if Apple incorporates OpenAI technology at the operating system level.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla CEO stated, “This is an unacceptable security violation. Any visitors will be required to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage.”
Musk’s remarks followed Apple’s announcement earlier in the day, revealing the addition of several AI features to its apps and operating platforms. Apple also disclosed a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into its devices. The tech giant emphasized that its AI features were designed with privacy at their core, utilizing both on-device processing and cloud computing to ensure security and functionality.
Musk’s stance highlights growing concerns over AI integration and data security, particularly with powerful technologies like ChatGPT becoming more prevalent in consumer devices.
