In a tragic incident, men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have shot and killed a young boy in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as the #EndBadGovernance protest enters its third day. The boy was reportedly killed at close range near the Zenith Bank area of Kubwa.
An eyewitness, who spoke after the shooting, stated that the deceased was not participating in the protest. “The boy was not part of the protesters; he was coming on his own after the police had pointed a gun at us from a different position,” the eyewitness recounted.
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju condemned the incident, describing it as an unprovoked murder. Adeyanju explained that the boy was merely observing the protesters when he was shot. In a message sent to DAILY POST, Adeyanju said: “IGP Kayode Egbetokun and his bloodthirsty men should come and eat the meat of this innocent young guy shot on the neck at close range in Kubwa by Zenith Bank.”
Adeyanju’s message underscored the senselessness of the act: “Clearly this is unprovoked murder as the boy was just sight-seeing the protesters of #EndBadGovernance before this ugly end.”
The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about police brutality and the excessive use of force during peaceful protests. The #EndBadGovernance protests, which have seen mostly peaceful demonstrations, are aimed at addressing government policies and advocating for better governance in Nigeria.
