President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the tragic bombing incident that resulted in the loss of numerous lives in Tundun Biri, located in the Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.
This directive was issued on Tuesday morning through a statement released by his spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The President urged for calm as authorities delve into the details of the mishap, expressing his deep concern over the unfortunate and distressing nature of the incident.
President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the affected families, as well as to the people and government of Kaduna State, acknowledging the profound sorrow caused by the tragic loss of Nigerian lives.
It is worth noting that the incident occurred during the celebration of Maulud, an Islamic event, when bombs were accidentally dropped among residents of the affected communities in the Igabi local government area. Following the event, Samuel Aruwa, the Kaduna State Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, revealed to the Nigerian media that the Army took responsibility for the incident. Reports also indicated that the Nigerian Army explained the incident as an unintentional consequence of a routine mission against terrorists, inadvertently affecting members of the community.
The Nigerian Airforce, on its part, stated that it had not engaged in any aerial operations in Kaduna State within the past twenty-four hours.
