The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has refuted claims by the Nigeria Police Force that 27 alleged criminals, including supporters of Ekpa, were killed in Enugu State. Reports had emerged that the individuals were gunned down during shootouts with security operatives at various locations in the state over the past two weeks.
In a statement released via his official X account on Thursday, Ekpa dismissed these claims, insisting that those killed were innocent Biafrans, not his supporters. He accused the Enugu State government of using propaganda to justify its actions against citizens.
“This is false and lies, not only that, it has exposed Nigeria as a failed state and as a country that has failed to uphold human dignity. Simon Ekpa has no boys in Enugu; you have killed innocent Biafrans to prove a point to Abuja,” Ekpa asserted.
He also alleged that in Abia State, the Nigerian Police mistakenly opened fire on their own officers, believing they were engaging Biafra fighters. Ekpa’s statements highlight ongoing tensions between pro-Biafra groups and Nigerian security forces.
