President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the Southern Parkway, now renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, a major roadway connecting the Christian Centre to Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway) in the Federal Capital Territory.
During the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu highlighted that the completion of this 5.4-kilometer road reflects his administration’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasized that infrastructure plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and prosperity. “We recognize the fact that infrastructure is an enabler of economic development and prosperity. We believe we are going to achieve all of that,” the President stated.
President Tinubu praised the efforts of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, for overseeing the completion of the road. He remarked that this project symbolizes Nigeria’s collective aspirations for enhanced connectivity through efficient transportation networks.
The newly completed dual carriageway, constructed by SETRACO, is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion, facilitate smoother traffic flow from the city center, reduce travel delays, and increase productivity by saving valuable man-hours.
Earlier, Minister Nyesom Wike announced that the Southern Parkway, stretching from the Christian Centre to Ring Road One, would be renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, in honor of the President’s contributions to national development. This initiative underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure as a foundation for economic advancement.
