The Niger State Government has refuted recent reports claiming that it has implemented a ban on the sale of alcohol in nine Local Government Areas within the state.
In an official statement, the state government addressed the circulating reports on various blogs alleging that the state’s Liquor and Licensing Board, under its authority, had imposed restrictions on the sale of alcohol in nine Local Government Areas, including Suleja.
Governor Umar Bago, upon learning of these claims, has instructed security agencies to apprehend a self-proclaimed Secretary of the board named Mohammed Ibrahim. The directive aims to uncover the imposter’s motives and the rationale behind the purported prohibition.
The government clarified that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, engrossed in spearheading numerous projects benefiting the public, never issued such a directive. Furthermore, it emphasized that the Liquor and Licensing Board is yet to be constituted by the governor, making it impossible for any such directive to originate from a board that has not been established.
The public is urged to disregard these pronouncements and seek clarification from recognized government officials authorized to speak on behalf of the state and its government.
