Kwankwaso Calls for Unity in Kano Amidst Political Tensions

Kano, Nigeria – June 16, 2024: The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 General Election, Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has urged the people of Kano State to unite for the peace and development of the state. Kwankwaso made this call during a special Sallah celebration organized by the Kwankwasiya Development Foundation in Kano.

Speaking at the event, Kwankwaso emphasized the need for all Kano indigenes, including NNPP members, to come together at a critical time when the state faces challenges from influential political figures. He highlighted the ongoing tussle over the Kano Emirates, describing it as a politically motivated effort against the preservation of the historic royal institution.

“We won elections overwhelmingly, but the enemies of the state are working hard to overturn our victory. However, Allah, in His infinite wisdom, intervened. It seems the enemies are at it again. You are aware of the situation with the Emirate Council, and we are grateful to all who support the government’s position on this issue. We are united and will remain united,” Kwankwaso stated.

Kwankwaso noted that the Kwankwasiya Movement continues to gain more followers due to its people-centered policies and focused representation. “We are working to ensure that more and more people join the movement,” he added.

Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, the Commissioner for Higher Education in Kano State, explained that the event was organized to celebrate Sallah with the leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement and NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso. He congratulated Muslims on a peaceful Sallah celebration and urged the attendees to reflect on its lessons to build a better society.

The special Sallah celebration in Kano drew leaders of the party, as well as friends and well-wishers from within and outside Nigeria. The event was marked by vibrant performances from local and national musicians and artists, showcasing diverse dance styles from various regions, including Nupe, Tiv, Jos, North Central, North West, and Southern Nigeria.
