Kogi State Officials Voluntarily Report to EFCC Amid Corruption Allegations

The Kogi State Government has confirmed that two of its officials are currently at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja. This development follows a report that a Federal High Court had ordered their arrest.

In a statement released by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, it was clarified that the officials, Abdulsalami Hudu and Umar Oricha, voluntarily reported to the EFCC despite not receiving an official invitation.

“We have not been told the specific details of the allegations against them, but they may not be unconnected to the ongoing investigations regarding some present and former Government officials,” the statement read.

Channels Television previously reported that the two officials turned themselves in on Monday in relation to corruption allegations.

Fanwo emphasized that the officials reported to the EFCC as law-abiding citizens to demonstrate that the Kogi State Government has nothing to hide and is open to lawful investigations.

“We hope that the EFCC will respond to the patriotic action of the officials by remaining professional in conducting their investigations,” Fanwo added. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to cooperating with anti-graft agencies to prove their transparency and maintain the confidence of their development partners, who have consistently recognized Kogi State for its transparency, accountability, and probity.
