HOSTCOM Delta Backs Oborevwori, Okowa as Upgraded Secretariat Opens

The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Delta State Chapter, has reaffirmed its strong support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, commending their commitment to the welfare of oil-bearing communities.

The group gave the commendation during the official opening of its newly remodeled Secretariat in Uvwie Local Government Area.

The event, held at Plot 11, Uti Street, off PTI Road, brought together leaders from the six oil-producing ethnic nationalities in Delta State. It was marked by speeches of appreciation, renewed unity, and a pledge to strengthen collaboration with the state government and the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

In his address, the State Chairman of HOSTCOM, Senior Comrade Sunday Ndidi Enujeke, said the Secretariat was renovated to create a better working environment and meet the growing needs of host communities. He credited the project’s success to the support of Governor Oborevwori, Senator Okowa, and DESOPADEC under the leadership of Chief John Nani and Chief Festus Ochonogor.

Enujeke added that the Secretariat stands as a symbol of unity and progress, silencing doubts and propaganda about HOSTCOM’s leadership. He urged members to remain focused on collective goals that would improve the lives of oil-bearing communities across the state.

Also speaking, the State Secretary, High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, described the remodeled Secretariat as proof of Governor Oborevwori’s listening leadership, noting that the new facility would enhance engagement with stakeholders and improve service delivery.

The Publicity Secretary, Comrade Perere Pemu, echoed the same sentiment, saying the remodeled building reflects democracy in action and showcases the strong bond between HOSTCOM, DESOPADEC, and the state government.

Leaders of the Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa, Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Ika nationalities also expressed joy at the reopening, describing it as a milestone of peace and unity. They recalled how earlier in the year, Enujeke donated vehicles to them with the support of the state government, a gesture they said strengthened trust between HOSTCOM and its partners.

The ceremony ended with members pledging to sustain peace and collaboration with the government to advance the welfare of oil-producing communities in Delta State.
