GOVERNOR MAKINDE PLEDGES TO ENSURE FUTURE SECURITY OF OYO STATE

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has affirmed his commitment to making decisions that prioritize the state’s interests and ensure a secure future for its residents. Speaking at the 2024 Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held at the House of Assembly Complex in Ibadan, the governor pledged to build on positive policies and legacies from past administrations, emphasizing the need to complete ongoing infrastructural projects for economic growth.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Oyo State, particularly civil servants and pensioners, Governor Makinde highlighted the government’s responsibility to address challenges, attend to the welfare of the workforce, and undertake projects that enhance the quality of life. He called for collaboration with labor leaders to find solutions, emphasizing the importance of openness in decision-making during challenging times.

Acknowledging the understanding and cooperation of labor union leaders, the governor assured a review of the minimum wage through negotiations. The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, commended Governor Makinde for his fearless leadership, while the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, praised his commitment to progressive policies and the welfare of civil/public servants.

Mrs. Oni highlighted achievements such as international training for over 8,000 citizens, prompt payment of salaries, and increased funds for gratuities. The chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) lauded Governor Makinde’s leadership style, pledging continued support. The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly also appreciated the governor for approving salary increments for legislative staff.
