The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests have reached the residence of former Governor Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt. Wike, who currently serves as the Federal Capital Territory minister, had strongly opposed the protests in Abuja.
While the demonstrations in the Federal Capital Territory have subsided, they are gaining momentum in Wike’s home state. As the protests enter their sixth day, demonstrators have gathered at the former governor’s mansion in the state capital.
In response to the growing unrest, the Nigerian Police Force has deployed additional personnel to the area to maintain order and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Earlier in the week, protesters stormed the Government House on the first day of the demonstrations, publicly embarrassing Governor Sim Fubara when he attempted to give them money for ‘pure water.’
The situation remains tense as the protests continue to unfold across the country.
