Super Eagles’ Success Boosts Nigeria’s FIFA Ranking

Nigeria has climbed three places in the latest FIFA rankings, following an impressive showing by the Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Nigerian national team now sits fourth in Africa and 39th globally, advancing from sixth place on the continent. The rise reflects the Super Eagles’ recent win against Libya, where they secured a 1-0 victory on October 11 in Uyo.

With 1,503.29 points, Nigeria’s progress aligns with a busy international window in October, during which FIFA recorded 32 World Cup qualifiers, 47 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, 79 Nations League matches, and 17 international friendlies. Globally, Argentina holds the top spot, with France and Spain closely following, while England, Brazil, and Belgium retain their positions.

Across Africa, other teams also made strides. Algeria rose four places to 37th, while Cameroon re-entered the top 50 at 49th. Zimbabwe, The Gambia, and Botswana saw notable jumps, with Botswana achieving the highest overall points gain of 38.3.
