In FIFA’s final rankings of 2023, the Super Eagles concluded the year as Africa’s sixth-best team and secured the 42nd position globally. Throughout the year, the Eagles showcased an impressive performance, with only one defeat and four victories, coupled with three draws.
On the African continent, Morocco maintained their top spot, ranking 13th globally. Senegal secured the second position, retaining their 20th place worldwide. Tunisia also held their ground as the third-best team in Africa and the 28th team globally.
Completing the top five in Africa, Algeria and Egypt finished the year in the 30th and 33rd positions worldwide, respectively.
At the global level, world champions Argentina continued to dominate the rankings following their 1-0 victory over Brazil in the last month’s World Cup qualifier. France secured the second spot, followed by England, Belgium, and Brazil in the top five.
The top 10 teams in the world also included Holland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia. FIFA is scheduled to release the next ranking on February 15, 2024.
