Nigeria’s U-16 female basketball team emerged victorious at the Dakar En Jaux 2024 Festival, claiming the gold medal after defeating Senegal 11-8 in a thrilling final. The win follows their recent silver medal at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, marking another significant achievement for the young athletes.
Team coordinator Victor Okoro, who also serves on the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), praised the team’s determination and skill, commending them for making Nigeria proud on the international stage. He attributed the team’s continued success to the support and vision of the Musa Kida-led NBBF, which has been instrumental in advancing Nigerian basketball.
