Nigerian Para Powerlifters Secure Four Gold Medals at Para Powerlifting World Cup

In a dazzling demonstration of strength and skill, Nigerian para powerlifters have triumphed, clinching four gold medals at the ongoing Para Powerlifting World Cup in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The remarkable feat began with Bose Bejide claiming Nigeria’s first gold on the opening day of the competition in the women’s -50kg category, showcasing exceptional talent and determination.

Esther Nworgu further bolstered Nigeria’s success by clinching gold in the women’s -41kg category, upgrading from her previous silver at the Dubai 2023 World Cup.

On Thursday, the momentum continued as Thomas Kure dominated the men’s -65kg category, securing Nigeria’s third gold medal, followed by Roland Ezuruike’s impressive performance in the men’s -54kg category, securing the fourth gold medal for the country.

Team captain Folashade Oluwafemiayo expressed pride in her teammates’ achievements, emphasizing that there’s still more to come. “We are not done yet as there are still more events to compete in, and I believe more medals are still coming,” she remarked.

The anticipation grows as reigning world champions Onyinyechi Mark and Kafila Almaruf, along with other gold medal hopefuls, are poised to contribute to Nigeria’s medal tally before the conclusion of the six-day tournament.
