The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that Ivory Coast will host the 2025 U17 African Cup of Nations. This decision was revealed on Tuesday by the continent’s football governing body.
The Young Elephants, Ivory Coast’s U17 national team, had already secured qualification for the championship as one of the representatives from the WAFU B region. However, with Ivory Coast now confirmed as the host nation, an additional country from the WAFU B region will be able to qualify and participate in the tournament.
CAF’s decision to award Ivory Coast the hosting rights is largely due to the high-quality facilities that were utilized for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which remain in excellent condition. These facilities are expected to provide a superb environment for the young athletes competing in the U17 tournament.
Ivory Coast’s successful bid highlights their continued commitment to developing football infrastructure and promoting the sport at all levels. The country’s readiness to host such a significant event is a testament to their investment in sports and organizational capabilities, promising a well-organized and exciting tournament for the youth teams across the continent.
