Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2024 West African Football Union (WAFU) B U20 tournament after a decisive 2-1 win against Côte d’Ivoire in their final group stage match.
The Flying Eagles had a challenging start in Group B, suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opener. However, Burkina Faso was later defeated 0-1 by Côte d’Ivoire, creating a closely contested group.
Nigeria, the defending WAFU B champions from 2022, topped Group B, holding the only two-goal advantage, while Côte d’Ivoire finished second based on their two goals scored. Burkina Faso exited the competition, finishing third in the group.
With their group victory, Nigeria will now face Niger Republic, who advanced from Group A with four points, in the upcoming semi-final matchup.
