Taiwo Awoniyi, striker for both the Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest, has declared that the team is focused solely on securing a victory against Libya in their upcoming match on matchday 3 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This highly anticipated game will take place today at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where Nigeria will host the Mediterranean Knights as part of a doubleheader in the qualifying series.
Currently, the Eagles lead Group D with four points from their first two matches, and a win in Uyo will significantly bolster their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Awoniyi, who was sidelined during the initial phase of the qualifiers due to injury, emphasized the team’s readiness and determination.
“It’s a great privilege to be here, and every player is prepared for the challenge. We are aiming for nothing but victory for our fans,” Awoniyi stated. He also expressed excitement about reuniting with teammates, highlighting the camaraderie within the squad. “We’ve known each other for years, and everyone is eager for the game.”
