British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has revealed plans to undergo minor elbow surgery in May as he prepares for a return to the ring.
The two-time world heavyweight champion has been sidelined since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium in September 2024. Joshua, who boasts 28 wins in 32 professional bouts, disclosed the update during an interview while attending Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s points victory over William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
“I’ve got to have a little surgery on my elbow, a small surgery, sometime in May,” Joshua stated. “That will see me out of the gym for maybe six to eight weeks and then, as soon as I’m healed, I’ll be back.”
Joshua emphasised that his focus remains on getting his body fully fit before stepping back into competitive boxing.
