President Tinubu Appoints Major-General Adamu Garba Laka as New National Coordinator of National Counter-Terrorism Centre

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Major-General Adamu Garba Laka as the new National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre. The announcement, conveyed through a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, signifies a significant shift in the leadership of the Centre.

Major-General Laka brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various capacities in the North-East region of Nigeria and internationally, including deployments with the United Nations in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His tactical acumen has played a crucial role in combating terrorist groups in the region.

With a Master’s Degree in National Security from the National Defence University, Pakistan, and expertise in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, General Laka is well-equipped to lead the Centre effectively.

President Tinubu has expressed high expectations for Major-General Laka, urging him to utilize his experience to enhance security measures and coordinate proactive counter-terrorism strategies. The appointment underscores the government’s commitment to addressing security challenges and safeguarding the nation’s stability.
