General Lagbaja underscored the volatile and complex security landscape, urging commanders to enhance awareness across the force. The conference served as a platform to assess readiness, devise strategies, and bolster collective performance in fulfilling constitutional obligations amidst evolving security challenges.
While addressing the loss of troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion in the Okuama Community on March 14, 2024, General Lagbaja expressed condolences and encouraged personnel to maintain resilience and dedication. He charged field commanders and troops to intensify efforts in confronting adversaries and restoring peace in troubled regions.
Emphasizing professionalism and respect for human rights, the Chief of Army Staff announced new initiatives aimed at improving troops’ welfare. These initiatives include the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS), ensuring soldiers have access to personal accommodation post-service. Additionally, measures have been introduced to cater to soldiers with operational-related disabilities, such as setting aside 5 percent of AHOOAS Scheme in each estate for allocation to these personnel.
To enhance personnel training, General Lagbaja highlighted special initiatives like SHINING STAR V, FAST BOLT II, and RESTORE HOPE VI, which were implemented in the first quarter to address prevailing security challenges.
