Acting Army Chief Lt. Gen. Oluyede Tours Sokoto, Boosts Troops’ Morale in Anti-Terrorism Operations

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Acting Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede conducted an operational tour in Sokoto State, reviewing security efforts within the 8 Division’s jurisdiction. Accompanied by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, General Oluyede received updates on the region’s security landscape, particularly at Forward Operations Base Tangaza and 248 Battalion in Illela.

In his address, General Oluyede praised the troops for their commitment in counter-terrorism efforts across northwestern Nigeria, assuring them of unwavering support to intensify operations against insurgent groups. He urged the troops to avoid complacency and maintain their vigilance in securing the region.

Interacting with Tangaza Local Government officials, traditional leaders, and security agency heads in Illela, General Oluyede emphasized the need for community collaboration. He called on locals to provide credible intelligence, stating, “The Nigerian Army is the people’s Army, and Nigeria belongs to all of us. Together, we must ensure the safety of our nation.”
