The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) state chairmen has announced plans to conduct solidarity rallies across all political wards, local governments, and state capitals, including Abuja, to highlight and support the projects and programs of President Bola Tinubu. This decision was revealed during a press conference held in Abuja by the forum’s secretary, Alphonsus Eba, on Monday.
These rallies, set to commence from July 29 and continue until August 11, 2024, are intended as a counteraction to the planned nationwide protest on August 1, which aims to address economic hardships and other grievances. The forum emphasized the importance of peaceful demonstrations and warned against the potential for violence that the planned protest might incite.
Eba highlighted the current challenges facing the nation but expressed optimism about a brighter future through the policies and initiatives of President Tinubu. He urged APC supporters and the general public to join in the solidarity rallies to demonstrate their commitment to democracy and reject any attempts to disrupt the peace.
“Against this background, in the next two weeks commencing from today, July 29 to August 11, 2024, and from this press briefing, which shall follow with a solidarity rally by all structures of our party across all political wards, LGAs, and state capitals including Abuja FCT, we shall embark on a peaceful rally to re-echo the laudable projects and programs of President Tinubu with greater vigor to protect and defend our democracy from any attack by hoodlums or some criminal elements who want to carry out violent protests,” Eba said.
He condemned the proposed violent protest, calling it unacceptable and a threat to democratic ideals. The forum called on all patriotic Nigerians to resist any attempts by individuals or groups to incite violence and disrupt the nation’s peace.
“We must resist it in the most civil manner by sensitizing innocent and peace-loving people of our country about the plans of failed politicians who want to get power through every illegitimate means by inciting ignorant Nigerians to embark on violent protest,” Eba added.
The forum’s message is clear: they stand firmly behind President Tinubu’s administration and are prepared to mobilize nationwide support to maintain peace and stability in the country.
