The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared last Saturday’s primary governorship election in Edo State as inconclusive, with plans to conclude the exercise on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
According to Felix Morka, the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, the NWC determined that the election process was incomplete after reviewing the report of the Edo State Governorship Primary Election. The announcement comes amidst controversies surrounding the emergence of three winners in the primary election.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who chaired the APC election committee for the State, declared Dennis Idahosa as the winner, while Senator Monday Okpebholo was announced as the winner by the State Returning Officer of APC, Mr. Stanley Ogbuaje. Anamero Dekeri also laid claim to victory as the third aspirant.
The decision to postpone the completion of the primary election reflects efforts by the APC to address concerns and ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in Edo State.
