Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has announced sweeping reforms in housing and urban development during the 12th meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development in Kaduna. Aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision, the Ministry aims to implement historic reforms, focusing on economic growth, job creation, access to capital, social inclusivity, and poverty alleviation. The plan includes overhauling federal housing institutions, establishing a National Social Housing Fund, reviewing the Land Use Act, and creating a robust Mortgage Registry. Minister Dangiwa also outlined initiatives for affordable housing, slum upgrading, and innovative financing. He commended Kaduna State’s exemplary leadership in housing development and praised its Qatar Sanabil Project, aiming to deliver 500,000 housing units. The Governor of Kaduna State highlighted ongoing projects and expressed readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government and investors for affordable housing solutions. Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, emphasized the importance of funds for progress in the housing and urban development sector, assuring the National Assembly’s support.
