The forum’s theme, “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2023,” pays homage to the 1955 Bandung Conference, a historic event that symbolized a new era of solidarity and cooperation between Asia and Africa. The theme aims to foster deeper collaboration between Indonesia’s Vision 2045 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The statement highlighted the growing and friendly relationship between Nigeria and Indonesia, noting that Indonesia has designated Nigeria as its primary African investment destination for the period from 2022 to 2026. This designation underscores Indonesia’s recognition of Nigeria’s economic potential and investment attractiveness.
During the forum, Minister Idris is expected to present Nigeria’s investment opportunities across various sectors and emphasize the socio-economic benefits of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He will also advocate for increased participation of Nigerian businesses in the Indonesian market.
Minister Idris expressed his anticipation for representing President Tinubu and Nigeria at the forum, looking forward to a successful event that strengthens ties between Indonesia, Nigeria, and the broader African continent. He noted that trade between Nigeria and Indonesia reached USD 6 billion in 2023, a significant increase from USD 4 billion a decade earlier. Additionally, Indonesia’s support to Nigeria includes a donation of 1.58 million doses of Pentavalent vaccine in 2023, valued at nearly USD 2 million, which has been crucial in protecting Nigerian children from serious diseases.
