Nigerian Army Concludes Investigation into Allegations Against Colonel Abdulkareem

The Nigerian Army has finalized its investigation into allegations made by former Private Ogunleye Ruth against Colonel Ishaku Abdulkareem. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Public Relations, announced that the investigation found no supporting evidence for the claims of sexual harassment against Colonel Abdulkareem. The Army emphasized that the inquiry was conducted with thoroughness and transparency.

Additionally, it was noted that Ogunleye Ruth had been medically discharged from the Nigerian Army in 2022, with her formal discharge occurring in June 2024. The decision was based on evaluations from the National Hospital in Abuja and the Nigerian Army Medical Corps, which raised concerns about her mental health and emotional stability.

Despite the Army’s compassionate approach to her situation, Ruth has reportedly continued to disseminate false narratives and engage in cyberbullying and defamation against Colonel Abdulkareem and other senior officers.

Ruth has been awarded a 50 percent disability claim, providing her with a lifetime monthly pension, along with other benefits such as Terminal Leave Allowance, Terminal Packing Allowance, and contributions to the Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme and Benevolent Fund. She has also received her Security Debarment Allowance for her period of service.

This statement follows a viral video in which Ogunleye Ruth made serious allegations of abuse against her superior and other senior officers within the Army.
