Flying Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force has been honored with the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom. This accolade was announced by the Nigerian Air Force through a statement posted on Facebook.
According to the announcement, Sangokoya received the award after completing the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22, where he was distinguished as the Best International Cadet. The Royal Air Force College Cranwell, which conducts up to eight courses annually, awards the International Sword of Honour to the most exceptional international cadet of the year.
The award ceremony took place on September 12, 2024, with Prince William, the Prince of Wales, presenting the honor on behalf of King Charles III.
In response to this remarkable achievement, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, extended his congratulations to Sangokoya. He praised Sangokoya’s dedication and hard work, emphasizing that the award is a testament to his focus and perseverance. Air Marshal Abubakar also acknowledged the support of Sangokoya’s family, which he believes contributed significantly to his success. He expressed pride in this accomplishment, noting its positive impact on both the Nigerian Air Force and the nation as a whole.
