Tinubu Orders Immediate Medical Care for Victims of Abuja Tanker Explosion

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed urgent medical attention for those injured in the tragic tanker explosion at Karu Bridge, Abuja, which resulted in multiple accidents and loss of life on Wednesday night.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President assured that survivors would receive prompt care at healthcare facilities across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Tinubu also instructed security agencies, particularly those responsible for road safety, to strengthen traffic monitoring at key entry and exit points of the city to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Additionally, the President called for a thorough investigation into the explosion, which occurred during peak traffic hours, claiming at least 10 lives and injuring several others.

Expressing his condolences, Tinubu sympathized with the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the departed souls, urging divine comfort for their loved ones.

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department confirmed that the explosion occurred around 7:14 p.m. on Wednesday after a truck lost control near Karu Bridge, between Kugbo and Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway. The resulting inferno engulfed multiple vehicles, causing significant casualties.

Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage while rescue and emergency response efforts remain ongoing.
