Senator Abdul Ningi Resigns as Chairman of Northern Senators’ Forum Amid Budget Padding Allegations

Senator Abdul Ningi, who was suspended by the Nigerian Senate for three months after alleging a N3 trillion padding in the 2024 budget, has tendered his resignation as Chairman of the Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF).

In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the NSF in Abuja on Tuesday, Senator Ningi stated, “I will like to resign my position as Chairman Northern Senators’ Forum. This is of course necessitated by the unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North and the nation at large.”

He expressed gratitude to the forum members for entrusting him with the position for the past eight months and emphasized the importance of the forum for the progress and development of Northern Nigeria.

Senator Ningi, a PDP lawmaker representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, was suspended during Tuesday’s plenary session of the Nigerian Senate over the allegations of budget padding leveled against the leadership of the Red Chamber.
