President Tinubu Inducts Eight New Federal Permanent Secretaries

In a significant move to address current and anticipated vacancies within the senior administrative echelons of the Civil Service of the Federation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officiated the induction of eight new Federal Permanent Secretaries. The event took place on Wednesday, just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries emerged after a rigorous selection process conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, which included a written ICT test. The appointees include Dr. Emanso Umobong Okop from Akwa-Ibom State, Obi Emeka Vitalis from Anambra State, Fatima Mahmood Sugra Tabi’a from Bauchi State, and Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi from Jigawa State. Other appointees are Olusanya Olubunmi-Ondo, Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila from Zamfara State, Akujobi Chinyere Ijeoma representing the South-East, and Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen representing the South-South.

The ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, began with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, announcing the division of the FEC meeting into two segments: the swearing-in of the new Permanent Secretaries and the Council meeting. Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced the names of the new Permanent Secretaries and presented their credentials before they took the oath of office administered by President Tinubu.

During the Council meeting, the re-election of President Tinubu as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government was met with applause. George Akume highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to leadership in Africa, expressing the cabinet’s full support and loyalty. He stated, “Africa has seen a committed leader and once again saw the need to re-appoint the president as their leader. Cabinet members congratulate you, Mr. President, and we believe that you will continue to do your best. You have our support, and loyalty is one hundred per cent.”
