President Tinubu Commits to Enhancing Healthcare in Nigeria, Partners with Afreximbank and KCH London

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirms his dedication to bolstering healthcare access and quality across Nigeria through domestic investments and international collaborations. In a meeting with Professor Benedict Oramah of Afreximbank and a delegation from King’s College Hospital, London (KCH), President Tinubu hailed the partnership’s initiative to establish the Africa Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja by 2025.

The project aims to address healthcare needs comprehensively, emphasizing training and development of healthcare professionals.

President Tinubu, recently appointed as the African Union (AU) Champion for Human Resources for Health, underscores Africa’s urgent need to enhance its healthcare systems, urging continued investment from Afreximbank.

The collaboration also extends to building a medical and nursing school alongside AMCE, aligning with Nigeria’s commitment to healthcare workforce expansion.

With a signed MOU for a $1 billion facility to finance healthcare sector investments, the partnership aims to reduce medical tourism, promote intra-Africa trade, and generate employment opportunities across the continent.
