President Tinubu Appoints New Directors-General for NIA and DSS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General to lead the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). In a statement by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi will head the DSS.

Ambassador Mohammed, a seasoned diplomat who joined the NIA in 1995, has had a distinguished career in foreign service. His experience includes serving in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and the Nigerian mission to Libya, as well as a stint at the State House in Abuja. Mohammed is a 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has risen through the ranks to his current position. He has previously served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi. His appointment follows the resignation of his predecessor.

President Tinubu has charged the new security chiefs with the task of repositioning their agencies to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges more effectively. The President emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
