Dangote Group Refutes NNPC’s Claim of Fuel Price at Dangote Refinery

The Dangote Group has firmly rejected the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited’s claim that it purchases fuel from the Dangote Refinery at N898 per litre. The group has labeled the statement as “mischievous” and “misleading.”

Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communications Officer for the Dangote Group, issued a statement on Sunday urging Nigerians to ignore the claim made by NNPC’s spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye. The statement described the allegation as an attempt to undermine the significant progress made in addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges.

Chiejina emphasized that the correct pricing will be announced by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, which was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and will begin its work on October 1, 2024. The current stock of crude used by the refinery was purchased in dollars, and the products were sold to NNPC in the same currency, providing significant savings compared to current import costs.

The Dangote Group assured the public of the availability of quality petroleum products and expressed commitment to eliminating fuel scarcity across the country, including in remote areas.
