LAGOS RESIDENTS AMAZED BY SLACKLINING SKILLS OF WORLD RECORD HOLDER.

Jaan Roose, the accomplished World Record holder in slacklining, mesmerized Lagos residents with an impressive performance on a 66m (217 ft) rope suspended between Sterling Towers and Onome rig in Marina, Lagos. Sponsored by Red Bull in collaboration with the Lagos State government, the 31-year-old Estonian showcased his skills to capture the ‘perfect Lagos selfie’ and bring joy to the community. The sport involves walking on a suspended rope for balance training, recreation, and moving meditation.

Roose, a three-time world champion with numerous records, drew the attention of spectators in the Central Business District (CBD) of Marina. The Director General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyitolu, and para medics were also present, describing Roose’s performance as audacious and interesting.

Accompanied by fellow slackliner Oskar Jussi and an excited crew, Roose shared his enthusiasm for bringing slacklining to Nigeria, describing it as an amazing experience. Jussi, with eight years of slacklining experience, found the Nigerian adventure pleasant, despite challenges setting up the rope due to traffic in Marina.

The Red Bull project aimed at exploring new terrains brought Roose and his team to Nigeria. Jussi expressed appreciation for the warm reception in Nigeria, though he found the local cuisine a bit too spicy. The event, which showcased the daring feat of walking 66m on a suspended rope covering 350 meters, concluded in the evening, with the slacklining team scheduled to return to Estonia on Friday.
