In his convocation lecture at Kwara State University (KWASU) titled “Learning, Unlearning, and Relearning – Prerequisites of the Digital Age,” Prof. Oloyede asserts that degrees alone will no longer guarantee job opportunities in the country.
He encourages Nigerians to embrace lifelong learning and adapt to the challenges of the information age, stressing the importance of being prepared to change as circumstances unfold. Prof. Oloyede underscores the value of practical application in learning and highlights relearning as the ability to swiftly and effectively acquire new skills, knowledge, and perspectives.
In addressing graduating students, he emphasizes the necessity of cultivating a mindset that accommodates continuous learning, relearning, and unlearning, describing these as essential elements for successful living in today’s Information Age. Addressing Wellcome, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, commended the significant impact of TETFund on the university’s development, emphasizing its pivotal role in constructing key structures. He expressed gratitude for the support, stating that TETFund has played a crucial role in realizing the institution’s vision for a conducive learning environment.
Professor Jimoh acknowledged the aesthetic enhancement brought about by state-of-the-art academic buildings and research facilities, fostering creativity and collaboration. He made additional requests for TETFund’s assistance in constructing the second phase of the Senate building, expanding the library, and implementing the Smart-City Hostel Model capable of accommodating over twenty thousand students.
