Favour Igiebor, the Nigerian woman seen in a viral video tearing her husband’s passport, has spoken out, explaining the reasons behind her actions. In a video posted on her family’s social media account, Favour expressed frustration over the alleged mistreatment she had endured from her husband, stating that destroying the passport was her way of standing up for herself after years of suffering.
Favour explained that she had sacrificed much for her family while they were in Europe and felt that the act of shredding the passport was a form of protest against the hardships she had endured. “The issue has been going on for a very long time… I did what I did when we arrived in Nigeria because I couldn’t take it anymore,” she said, urging people to consider the full context before judging her actions.
She also acknowledged that while she knew destroying a Nigerian passport was wrong, she felt she had no other option. Favour apologized to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the public, expressing regret for her conduct and hoping that others could understand her situation.
The incident, which has drawn significant attention, underscores the complexities of personal struggles and the need for understanding in conflict situations.
