Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, celebrated the arrival of the first baby of the year, a girl born at the Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja. The baby, Chioma Oyigbo, was delivered at 12:27 a.m. on January 1, weighing 3.6 kilograms.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, the First Lady congratulated the parents and prayed for the wellbeing of all children born on New Year’s Day. She urged parents to prioritize their children’s health and welfare, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the next generation.

“The health and wellbeing of children should always be a priority,” Mrs. Tinubu stated. She presented baby Chioma with gifts, cash, and the hard copy of her birth registration certificate. Other newborns at the hospital were also celebrated with gifts to mark the special occasion.

In her New Year message, Mrs. Tinubu extended warm wishes to Nigerians and reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at revitalizing the nation’s economy. She called for national unity and urged citizens to rebuild connections rooted in love, respect, and understanding.

“As we journey through 2025, let us rise above our differences and rebuild the bridges that connect us—bridges of love, respect, and understanding,” she said.

The First Lady encouraged Nigerians to support one another and work collectively to create a nation where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background.

“Let us stand together, lifting each other up, and ensuring no one is left behind. Together, we can build the Nigeria we all desire. Together, we will,” she concluded in her heartfelt message.

The celebration of baby Chioma and the First Lady’s inspiring address set a hopeful tone for 2025, reflecting a vision of unity, progress, and care for the nation’s future generations.
