The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration has set December 27th as the deadline for pilgrim registration for the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The Director of FCTA Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Malam Abubakar Adamu Evuti, announced this during a visit to the Chairman of FCT Council of Chiefs and Ona of Abaji. The visit was part of a sensitization tour to inform traditional institutions and stakeholders about the registration deadline and new policies introduced by Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj.
Evuti urged intending pilgrims to deposit a minimum of Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N4,500,000.00) through a bank draft to secure their seats. He emphasized the importance of early registration and sought support from stakeholders, including the traditional leaders, to ensure widespread awareness and compliance with the new policies.
The Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs and the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, pledged support for the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in mobilizing intending pilgrims for early registration. He stressed the role of the traditional institution in reaching the grassroots and emphasized the need for government agencies to engage them in disseminating information on policies that enhance citizens’ lives.
Alhaji Baba Yunusa called on residents of the territory to comply with early registration for the next year’s Hajj to fulfill their religious obligation.
