Lagos, Nigeria – Nigerian entertainment icons Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Toyin Abraham, and Don Jazzy were among the distinguished recipients of the 2025 Silverbird Awards, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the industry.
The star-studded ceremony took place on Sunday night at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, where industry leaders and public figures gathered to recognize excellence across various sectors.
Music mogul Don Jazzy was presented with the Extraordinary Achievement Award, while veteran actor RMD received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades-long impact on Nollywood. Toyin Abraham and Chidi Mokeme were honored with the Trailblazer Awards, acknowledging their significant influence on Nigerian cinema.
The event also highlighted the growing role of social media in entertainment, with popular TikToker Habeeb Hazmat, known as Peller, winning the Influencer of the Year Award.
Beyond entertainment, the awards celebrated leaders in governance and public service. Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji was named Silverbird Man of the Year, while Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah received the Distinguished Governors of the Year Award. Minister of Works, Dr. David Umahi, was recognized as Minister of the Year for his contributions to infrastructure development.
Since its inception in 2006, the Silverbird Man of the Year Award has honored exceptional individuals across politics, business, and entertainment. Previous recipients include music duo P-Square, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, agricultural economist Akinwumi Adesina, and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The ceremony, known for blending recognition with political discourse, once again provided a platform for celebrating excellence and shaping national conversations.
