Ramsey Nouah’s Latest Film Tòkunbò Climbs into Netflix’s Top 10 Global Chart in Nigeria

Renowned Nigerian actor and director Ramsey Nouah’s latest film, Tòkunbò, has achieved significant success, landing in the Top 10 of Netflix’s global chart in Nigeria. This marks Nouah’s third feature as a director. Known for his extensive work in film and television, Nouah first gained acclaim with his 2010 Africa Movie Academy Award win for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Figurine. His impressive filmography also includes End of the Wicked, Battle of Love, Power of Love, Blood Sisters, and Merry Men.

Nouah’s directorial career began in 2019 with the critically acclaimed remake of Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which won seven awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2020. He followed this success with Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, a remake of the 1995 classic Rattlesnake.

Tòkunbò continues Nouah’s exploration of gripping narratives, telling the story of an ex-car smuggler who must deliver a government official’s daughter to her captor within a tight deadline, under the threat of dire consequences for his own family. The film dives into the intense world of crime and desperation.

Produced by Chris Odeh, Tòkunbò features a stellar cast, including Gideon Okeke, Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Nobert Young, Majid Michael, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaye, Tosin Adeyemi, Stanley ‘Funnybone’ Chibunna, Darasimi Nadi, and Aaron Sunday. This week, the Netflix Top 10 chart also features Something Like Gold at the top spot, alongside The Union and House of Ga’a.
