Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has recently opened up about her views on marriage, emphasizing that her focus remains firmly on building her career and achieving financial independence rather than dreaming about her wedding day. In an interview on the Creativitea Live with Lynda podcast, Isime shared that her aspirations center around work and financial self-sufficiency, rather than matrimonial fantasies.
“I’ve always envisioned myself working,” Isime said. “While many young girls daydream about their weddings, I never did. My daydreams were about earning my own money and being independent. The concept of a dream wedding doesn’t hold the same significance for me. If I do get married, it will simply be a reflection of where we both are at that moment—whether it’s a grand affair or a small, intimate gathering.”
Isime attributed her current perspective to her upbringing in a modest background, where financial constraints made asking for things a rare occurrence. “Growing up, it was almost taboo to ask for anything because we knew there wasn’t much money. I always looked forward to having my own money so I could do things on my own terms,” she explained.
The actress underscored that her priority is to secure her financial future and create her ideal lifestyle independently. “I am a strong advocate for investing in myself. I spend on myself so much that it ensures nobody can undermine my lifestyle or say I wouldn’t have it without them,” Isime concluded.
