Lagos, Nigeria — Afrobeats superstar Davido, born David Adeleke, has hailed Nigerians’ contributions to various fields, particularly in the U.S. healthcare sector, and underscored Africa’s growing influence in global entertainment. Speaking during an interview on Afric TV, Davido emphasized the intellectual and creative prowess of Africans, citing examples from both the medical and entertainment industries.
“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can search for it,” he said, referencing the significant presence of Nigerian professionals in top U.S. medical institutions. He further highlighted how Nigerian creativity extends beyond medicine, noting the innovative input of African talents in global music and business, including his own record label, Sony Music. “Africans bring the best ideas. That shows that our imagination is off the grid,” he added.
Davido also praised the rising prominence of African storytelling in Hollywood and streaming platforms. He pointed out that platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime are increasingly sourcing movie ideas from Africa. “Now, when you come on Netflix, you will see about two Nigerian movies in the top 10. Africa is next, trust me,” he said confidently, expressing optimism about the continent’s future impact on global culture.
Despite the progress, Davido believes Africa still faces challenges but remains poised for greatness. “I feel like we have everything, but I’m just missing a couple of things,” he concluded.
