In a recent visit to the Honorable Minister, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, Mr. Zhang Yi, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, reaffirmed China’s dedication to fostering cultural exchange programs and supporting infrastructure development in Nigeria.
During the meeting in Abuja, Mr. Yi emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two countries, particularly in infrastructural growth. He highlighted China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s sovereignty and encouraging Chinese investment in the country, underscoring the significance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Nigeria.
In response, Minister Musawa stressed the need for cultural alignment between the two nations to showcase their unique strengths globally. She proposed exploring joint initiatives at international events like Davos, the UNGA, or the Olympics to demonstrate the synergy between China and Nigeria.
Minister Musawa also outlined plans for infrastructure development, notably the Abuja Creative City project, which aims to become a hub for culture and creativity in Africa. She emphasized the potential for collaboration with China in building this project and creating cultural districts within the city.
The meeting also involved a review of the progress made during the inaugural meeting of the Culture and Tourism Subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Committee of China and Nigeria. Both parties discussed recent achievements and future prospects for cultural and tourism cooperation, expressing mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral exchanges.
This renewed commitment to collaboration between China and Nigeria is poised to yield significant benefits, fostering economic growth, cultural enrichment, and innovative infrastructure development.
