Nigerian music icons Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Tems have secured nominations for the 2025 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards, further cementing their global influence.
The 56th NAACP Image Awards will take place on February 22, 2025, at the Pasadena Civic Center in California, United States. The prestigious annual event honors exceptional achievements by people of color in motion pictures, television, music, and literature.
Burna Boy received a nomination in the category of “Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary)” for his collaboration with American singer Usher on the track Coming Home.
Davido, alongside American artist Chris Brown, earned a nomination for Outstanding International Song for their hit single Hmmm.
Wizkid landed two nominations, including one for Outstanding International Song for his chart-topping single Piece of My Heart, featuring Brent Faiyaz. The song also earned a nod in the Best International Song category.
Tems, one of Nigeria’s leading female artists, was nominated in the Best International Song category for Love Me Jeje, a track from her debut album Born in the Wild.
Other highlights from the nomination list include South African Grammy winner Tyla, who earned a nod for Outstanding New Artist, and Ayo Edebiri, who secured an impressive five nominations, including Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Voiceover.
The NAACP Image Awards, which will be broadcast live on BET and CBS, carry the theme Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence this year, celebrating diversity and promoting the representation of people of color in the entertainment industry.
