Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has stirred attention by claiming he received a call from the presidency regarding his newly launched Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). In a recent Instagram post, Otse announced that the NGO will focus on community development and improving public schools.
In his appeal for support, Otse reached out to influential figures such as music star Davido and entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, promising to maintain transparency and accountability in the NGO’s operations.
Just a day after launching the initiative, he reported raising over N33 million in donations, with contributions continuing to increase. He shared a screenshot of the total amount on Instagram and expressed gratitude to donors, noting that many contributions were as small as N500, highlighting the community’s willingness to support despite financial challenges.
In a follow-up post, VeryDarkMan revealed that the presidency had contacted him, commending his societal contributions. In a sarcastic tone, he suggested that given the significant funds he raised, he expected the government to seek his financial assistance in return.
Otse also announced plans to enhance transparency in the operations of Nigerian NGOs, stating, “I go cast NGO for this country, make una dey watch,” indicating his commitment to ensuring accountability in the sector.
